Description
This Sweet Chestnut staff is handmade from a fallen bough. The wood has been prepared and seasoned prior to carving. Sweet Chestnut wood is blond in colour and has a subtle dark brown grain. This staff is topped with various fethishes eg, feather, arrowhead and turquoise stones etc.. The base is hand carved into a spiral.
It is over 5ft in height and polished to a beautifully smooth finish.
This is a totally unique staff and one of a kind.
Symbology
The Sweet Chestnut tree is not part of the traditional Celtic tree Ogham. However, it is a deciduous tree and therefore has a real presence in any woodland. Please dont confuse this tree with the more common Horse Chestnut or conker tree. The Sweet Chestnut is much more majestic and prodces the edible chestnuts that are a delicacy raosted in the winter season.
Sweet Chestnut wood is very sturdy and solid it makes this a great staff.
